    • Although not by much, Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River.

    • Roswell was the first to receive telephone service in 1901.
    • Sandy Springs is home to more Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies per person than any other city in the country. Some of these companies include Cox Communications, CBS, and UPS.
    • The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney in Georgia.
    • The Georgia Aquarium is one of the world's largest aquariums. It is home to more than 100,000 animals.
    • Coca-Cola was invented in Atlanta, Georgia, by Dr. John Pemberton in 1886.
    • Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is the World's busiest airport.
    • Georgia is rich in marble.
    • Georgia has the second most counties of any other state with 159. Texas is first, having 254 counties.
    • The first twin-barreled cannon was created in Athens.
    • Hart County is the only county in Georgia named after a woman, Nancy Hart.
    • Jimmy Carter is the only president to date to come from Georgia.
    • The Georgia gold rush was the first in the country.
    • The Granite Capital of the World is Elberton, Georgia.
    • Stone Mountain is recorded as the world's largest piece of exposed granite. It has a height of approximately 1,500 feet and a base circumference of 3.8 miles.
    • Georgia is the nation's top producer of peaches, pecans, peanuts, and Vidalia onions.
    • The International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is the world's largest annual poultry, meat, and feed event. It's hosted in Atlanta.
