    VOTE: First Florida Credit Union Athlete of the Week for Jacksonville: April 22

    The results are in.

    Clay's Teaghan Moses is the Florida Times-Union's latest First Florida Credit Union Athlete of the Week for the 2023-24 high school sports season, covering the week of April 8-13 in the Jacksonville area.

    The sophomore quarterback threw both touchdown passes to lead the Blue Devils to the district championship.

    For the year, she has led the Blue Devils to an 11-1 record entering Tuesday's second-round Florida High School Athletic Association playoffs.

    She placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Shaylen Byrd (Baldwin softball), Bryson Harnage (University Christian baseball), Ella Hill (Tocoi Creek girls lacrosse), Vincent Jackson (Ponte Vedra boys track), Lee Krotee (Bolles boys lacrosse), Kyla Skinner (Mandarin girls track) and Abhinav Sriram (Stanton boys tennis).

    It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's next First Florida Credit Union Athlete of the Week for the week of April 15-20, 2024.

    The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com.

    This week's voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.

    Here are the nominees from April 15-20.

    Kalia Bing, Bishop Snyder girls track

    The freshman won the 100-meter dash (12.61) and the long jump (18 feet, 9 1/4 inches) at the Ridgeview Invitational.

    Courtney Brown, Stanton flag football

    The senior scored a punt return before halftime and a 65-yard receiving touchdown with two minutes to play in the Blue Devils' 24-12 first-round playoff win over Menendez.

    Kelvin Brown, Baldwin boys track

    The sophomore ran a personal-best 10.72 for first place in the 100-meter dash at the Mustang Developmental Meet.

    William Chaves, Nease boys tennis

    The freshman led the Panthers to the District 2-4A title, winning the No. 1 singles as well as the No. 1 doubles alongside teammate Aleks Gavrancic.

    Grace Jones, Episcopal softball

    The senior pitcher batted .778 for the week with home runs in each of her last four games, and struck out 36 batters in 18 innings to help extend the Eagles' winning streak to 17 games.

    Avery McAlister, Fletcher girls lacrosse

    The senior scored three goals in the final against Nease to lead the third-seeded Senators to the District 2-2A championship.

    Ethan Strickland, Atlantic Coast baseball

    The senior outfielder batted .417 for the Gateway Conference tournament with two doubles, and made two scoreless relief appearances to help the Stingrays to the title.

    Mason Taylor, St. Augustine boys lacrosse

    The junior scored eight goals in the semifinal against Fleming Island and the final against Ocala Forest, leading the Yellow Jackets to the District 3-2A championship.

    Sam Wainwright, Suwannee boys weightlifting

    The senior set an FHSAA record for the 199-pound division with a 380-pound clean and jerk, winning both the traditional and Olympic lifts at the Class 1A championships.
