Voters across Florida, including Duval County, will head to the polls on Tuesday for the state's 2024 Primary Election to decide or narrow the fields in several races, including four Duval County School Board seats, judges, Florida House and Senate seats, U.S. House and Senate seats and more.

Florida's closed primary state status means that only registered voters within that party may vote in select primary contests. But all voters, depending on where they live, can vote in select non-partisan races like school board members and judges.

Florida held its Presidential Preference Primary in March, with 81 percent of the state's Republicans choosing Donald Trump as their preferred candidate for November's presidential election between the former president and current Vice President Kamala Harris. Voters across the country will decide the next president on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Races include the odd-numbered school board districts in a year when school choice and potential school closures have prompted outcry among residents . Because of the changes made during redistricting last year, you may be in a different district in this election.

There are two Democratic primaries for state House District 13 and 14. The District 13 race pits incumbent Angie Nixon against Brenda Priestly Jackson, a former Jacksonville City Council member. The District 14 race includes incumbent Kimberly Davis against Lloyd Caulker and Therese Wakefield-Gamble.
