Jacksonville Jaguars' Doug Pederson doesn't rule out IR for Tyson Campbell (hamstring)

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson did not rule out placing cornerback Tyson Campbell on injured reserve Wednesday. The cornerback suffered a hamstring injury against the Miami Dolphins last week late in the team's 20-17 loss .

"Potentially, [I] haven't made a decision there. We'll see, just the length of time it'll be, but I haven't made that decision yet," Pederson said when asked if Campbell was an IR candidate.

On Monday, Pederson said he did not want to put Campbell "in a box" when asked if the veteran corner would be available when the team travels to London in October, noting that he is "week-to-week."

Campbell's injury could force the team to turn to backup corners Monatric Brown and rookie Jarrian Jones against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Brown entered the lineup after Campbell went down and played 19 snaps to close out the game. Jones played 17 snaps, working in the slot on 14 snaps and outside only twice.

Pederson said again Wednesday that the team has options if Campbell is unable to suit up Sunday against Cleveland, but alluded to the fact that Brown could be the one to handle the job.

"I thought [Montaric] Buster [Brown] did a nice job filling in last week. We really like where he's at and what he's done, so obviously that's a good option for us," said Pederson.

Jacksonville held Miami in check for most of the game, allowing two explosive plays to receivers in the passing game, including an 80-yard touchdown to Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill and a 63-yard strike from Tua Tagovailoa to Jaylen Waddle early in the contest that resulted in no points for Miami.

Still, Jacksonville's secondary will need help from all over against the Browns, who boast at least one capable threat in receiver Amari Cooper. Pederson praised Cooper and WR Jerry Jeudy when asked about the challenge for Sunday's game against the Browns.

"Explosive," Pederson said of the duo. "I was in Philly when Amari [Cooper] was in Dallas and he can get behind you. He's good in space and he's smart. It's a good tandem and, again, two guys that we got our hands full again this week."

Jeudy caught three passes on eight targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. Cooper caught two passes on nine targets for 16 yards.

Pederson said the team has already turned the page on the team's Week 1 loss to Miami. That process begins Mondays and players focus on the next opponent the next time the team meets.

The Jaguars made crucial mistakes against the Dolphins on Sunday that cost them the game. Most of it is correctable, but the team still has to make sure some of the easy issues aren't showing up and lingering as the weeks go on. Pederson alluded to a couple of issues the team is working on this week to put last week behind them.

"The mistakes that we made, the subtle things, the communication issues offensively, even some of the communication things defensively... have we corrected those? We won't know again until we can get out on the practice field and Sunday," said Pederson.

The other issue Pederson mentioned was ball security, that the team has to create takeaways and take care of the football.

They did neither against Miami, recording no turnovers and turning the ball over at a critical point in the game that ultimately led to the team's loss.

"I think if we do that, it definitely helps your chances," he said.
