For Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Jacksonville Jaguars were the exact team he needed to face.

Watson came into the game with an undefeated record against the Jaguars and he left " TrEverBank Stadium " the same way.

The Browns defeated the Jaguars 18-13 , with Watson outdueling former Clemson successor Trevor Lawrence .

"I was thinking that all week, actually, but I didn't want to jinx myself so I didn't tell anybody, but I kind of knew that I had a pretty good record against Jacksonville," Watson said after the game. He moved to 7-0 all time against Jacksonville. "Going into this week, I felt really, really confident."

He passed for 22 of 34 passes for 186 yards with no touchdowns. But it was the way he was able to extend plays, often times eluding defenders and finding open receivers down the field.

It's a relationship that Watson is still developing with his receivers after missing multiple games in his first two seasons with the Browns.

He said he's told receivers that the play is still alive until they blow it dead, implying that he'll keep fighting to complete a pass until he's sacked or tackled. And against the Jaguars, he did just that.

It seemed he was the Watson of old, but head coach Kevin Stefanski never lost his faith in him.

“I'm not going to say comeback performance. That’s our starting quarterback out there making plays, he's not perfect," he said of Watson. "He made some plays and that's who he is. I thought his pocket movement, making plays off schedule was incredible.

"A couple of those throws down the field were really, really impressive and he never blinked."
