Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Colts game day fan guide: Jags will unveil throwback uniforms

By Garry Smits, Jacksonville Florida Times-Union,

It's Throwback Day at EverBank Stadium.

Perhaps the 2024 version of the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) can draw on the vibes the team had during its glory years from 1996-1999.

The Jaguars play host to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday (CBS, 1 p.m.) trying to break their own losing streak and add to an eight-game winning streak over the Colts in Jacksonville (and a nine-game home streak overall, counting a 2016 game in London).

The day is going to be a history lesson of the early days of the franchise, starting with the throwback "prowling" uniforms the team will wear.

Then at halftime, the architect of four playoff seasons in a row, twice coming a game away from the Super Bowl, will join other legends in the Pride of the Jaguars. Tom Coughlin, the team's first coach, will be enter the Pride along with four players he coached, Tony Boselli, Fred Taylor, Mark Brunell and Jimmy Smith, plus the first owner, Wayne Weaver , and his wife Delores.

There are also 85 past members of the Jaguars scheduled to attend the game.

Perhaps a little history can rub off.

    Jaguars fans can stay cool

To help beat the heat, fans are allowed to bring in one commercially branded, factory-sealed, plastic, 16.9 oz. or less size bottle of water per ticket holder is permitted. Refillable bottled water stations can be found at all water fountains throughout the stadium and complimentary cups and ice are also available at all guest services booths to use at stadium water fountains.

The South End Zone and Daily’s Place can provide shaded space with concessions and seating. Fans resting in Daily’s Place can follow the game in real time on the big screen.

    Uniform colors

The Jaguars will wear their "prowler" throwback jersey for the first time. The name stems from the running Jaguar on the sleeves of the jerseys, with the pants featuring a teal stripe with gold and black piping. The helmets have the original Jaguars logo on the side used by the team in the inaugural season from 1995 to 2013.

    Free posters available

Fans attending home Jaguars games at EverBank Stadium can get complimentary limited-edition game day posters from Florida artists in the Fan Entertainment Zone before kick off. Each artist selected will be on hand to meet fans and sign their work which is created specifically with the game theme or Jaguars opponent in mind.

This week’s poster comes from local artist, Tim Stacey. “Trevor Lawrence: Throwback.”  It will be available to the first 300 fans in the Entertainment Zone.

Jaguars Pride members will be dressed to impress

Coughlin's entry into the Pride will start a new feature. All Pride members will receive a Jaguars Pride teal jacket, designed by Charlotte-based design house, Evolution of Style. The Italian merino wool teal blazer is embroidered with the new Pride of the Jaguars logo on the breast pocket and “DUUUVAL” in the interior collar. The jackets are customized to the Pride member with a custom photo collage of their Jaguars career in gold and white satin.

Traffic patterns will be impacted and fans should have their mobile parking passes and tickets downloaded and saved prior to arrival so they can be easily scanned.
