Jacksonville Jaguars open Tyson Campbell's 21-day window to return from IR

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced they’ve opened cornerback Tyson Campbell’s 21-day practice window today.

Campbell, who was originally placed on the injured reserve list on Sept. 12 , has missed the last four games while dealing with a hamstring injury.

"It just allows him to kind of work himself back into practice, right? He's been training and rehabbing, it's different than the football movements," head coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday. "It's a way for us as coaches to monitor that and keep him in a controlled environment."

He suffered the injury in the season opening loss against the Miami Dolphins and has been sidelined as the Jaguars stumbled to a 2-3 start to the season.

Third-year cornerback Buster Brown has filled in for Campbell and has been one of the better players in the secondary.

Brown has recorded 37 tackles and three pass deflections while being sticky in coverage in defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen’s scheme.

With the Jaguars’ opening Campbell’s window, he’ll have a runway to return from IR while returning to practice. The Jaguars are headed to London this week where they’ll face the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots .

Campbell will be eligible to return for either of those games, as well as when the team returns and hosts the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 27.

According to Pederson, there's a chance he returns against the Patriots. He mentioned Campbell returning in Week 7 in passing when referencing other injuries and potential returns.

When asked for clarification on if Campbell would return in Week 7, Pederson said, "We're leaning that way."
