On Thursday night — just one day before mediators between Israel and Hamas expressed optimism for a deal to end their 10-month conflict — 75 Frederick residents came to a mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting to press for a cease-fire resolution.

The loosely affiliated advocacy group includes members of Frederick’s Palestinian and Muslim communities, the local chapters of the NAACP and the Democratic Socialists of America, lifelong activists for Palestine, and other residents who feel strongly that the current situation in Gaza is not tenable.
