Frederick County school board member Jason Johnson suspends congressional campaign

Jason Johnson, a member of the Frederick County Board of Education who had been running to represent Maryland’s 6th District in Congress, suspended his campaign last week after failing to secure a spot on the general election ballot.

Johnson, who lives in New Market, was running for Congress as a candidate of the Maryland Forward Party — a new political party that promotes election reforms such as open primaries and ranked-choice voting.
