ORIGINAL: Two people are dead Wednesday night following a crash from a pursuit that ended when a vehicle crashed into a Fresno home.

The Fresno Police Department was told at 9:30 p.m. that deputies and the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC) unit were in pursuit of a white Tahoe through the city, Lt. Zeb Price said.

The pursuit ended when the Tahoe crashed into a bedroom of a home at Cedar and Nevada avenues after the suspect vehicle went off the roadway and collided into the home striking a man in his 20s who was pronounced dead.

A second victim — an 18-year-old woman — was trapped under the vehicle, Price said.

Fresno fire were able to extricate the victim, but she was pronounced dead.

“We’re trying to determine what exactly happened,” Price said. “How and how that vehicle lost control.”

The driver of the Tahoe was detained.

The Fresno Police Department Reconstruction Unit are investigating the deadly collision.

A neighbor told The Bee, he was in bed taking a survey on Facebook and heard the collision.

“I didn’t think much about it,” Stephen Douglas said. “I started hearing the helicopter and seeing all these cop cars coming by and said ‘come out with your hands up.’ I come outside of my house and I was shocked.”

It’s unknown what the suspect was wanted for.
