ALBERTVILLE — The future is bright for Coosa Christian softball , even after a winless appearance in the Class 1A regional.

Need any proof, the final inning of their season should provide the hope for the 2025 season. Going into the inning, needing six runs to have a chance to extend their season, they did just that with a furious comeback before heartbreak. The season came to an end after a passed ball allowed Victory Christian to walk them off, 15-14 and out of the elimination bracket.

Even with the loss, the Conquerors showed the kind of fight that got them to this point, coming out of the area to get here and battling through early season losses to pick up crucial wins late.

"That's what they've been working on all season. They've been fighting, they've been working hard all season up to this point. The girls are young, they have a lot of ball left to play. I expect good things out of us in the upcoming season," head coach Vincent Dupree said.

Coming into the week, the Conquerors were making their second straight trip to Albertville but this time it came with a young team. They have no seniors and only a handful of juniors playing, which means they won't lack experience next season.

"Big deal was getting these girls experience and they got it this week, they got it this season. We got no seniors, bunch of juniors and the rest is underclassmen. That last at-bat we had it showed how much they worked, how hard they worked and how much they want to work. I believe in them, they believe in themselves," Dupree said.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Conquerors offseason starts and they know what they need to work, especially after several costly errors on Tuesday that hurt their chances to extend their season. The good news is they now know what it takes to get to this point, which Dupree hopes will help them go farther next year.

"It starts in the offseason. We know what it took to get here today. We work on the things we need to work on in the offseason. That gets us two games or being to the states next year," Dupree said.
