    Westbrook Christian baseball falls to Thomasville in game three, ends as Class 3A runner ups

    JACKSONVILLE — Westbrook Christian baseball is the 2024 Class 3A state runner-ups.

    The Warriors rallied in the fourth inning to retake the lead before the Tigers tied up it again. A grounder by Luke Brasell scored the game's two winning runs in the bottom of the sixth which led to the Tigers securing the 8-7 triumph and the Class 3A state title.

    The Warriors loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, and scored two, but a tag out at third ended the game.

    The Warriors got off to a strong start by scoring two runs in the top of the first, but Thomasville took the lead in the bottom half as its pitching staff issuing walks continued the be an issue. The Tigers pushed the lead to two in the bottom of the second. The Warriors took advantage of two errors by the Tigers to retake the lead with three runs in the fourth.

    Bo Kilgo earned the start for the Warriors and finished with five strikeouts, allowing five runs on four hits in five innings, but yielded seven walks. Dylan Rainey had two RBIs and scored once to lead Warriors hitters with two hits.

    The Warriors end the year going 25-11 with the area crown. They will move up to Class 4A in 2025, due to the competitive balance factor.
