Alabama high school sports: Vote for Gadsden Times area athlete of the Week for May 17

It's that time of the week, time to vote for the Gadsden area boys and girls athlete of the week.

Westbrook Christian's Braden Kay won the boys vote with more than 68% of the vote after his 13 strikeout performance. With eight Gadsden area teams in action the final week of the season, there is one poll that will have both boys and girls nominees.

Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers the week before. Voting will last until Thursday at noon.

• Hokes Bluff's Makayla Bearden 18-over, 128, eighth place
• Piedmont's Savannah Smith - 17 ⅓ IP, 13 K's
• Plainview's Shianne Parker - 26 IP, allowed seven runs
• Cherokee County's Emma Hill - CG shutout, 6 K's
