Two people were arrested after a report of counterfeit money being passed in Rainbow City led authorities across Etowah County to find a cache of counterfeit cash and materials used in making it.

According to a Facebook post by the Rainbow City Police Department, officers were called to Martin's Family Clothing on Rainbow Drive on July 16 for someone allegedly trying to pass counterfeit $100 bills. Six days earlier, someone allegedly passed two fake $100 bills at the same store.

Erica Dillard, 32, of Altoona was arrested at the scene, according to the post.

Rainbow City detectives after additional investigation obtained a search warrant for a residence in Altoona, where they found $6,000 in counterfeit money and the production materials.

Eric Jennings, 25, of Altoona, was arrested at the scene. He's charged with third-degree possession of a forged instrument and posession of a forgery device or tools.

Dillard is charged with two counts of third-degree possession of a forged instrument and fourth-degree theft of property.

The Etowah County Sheriff's Office assisted in the case.
