The Alabama High school football season kicks off Week 1 on Thursday and there's plenty of action around the Gadsden area throughout the next 36 hours.

The headliner is Hokes Bluff and Southside on Thursday, continuing their longstanding Etowah County rivalry. Another Etowah County rivalry occurs on Friday with Glencoe vs. Westbrook Christian. Other big games include Guntersville and Fort Payne, Boaz and Albertville, alongside Sand Rock and West End.
