Alabama high school sports: Vote for Gadsden Times boys and girls athlete of the Week of August 23

It's time to vote for the Gadsden area boys and girls athlete of the week .

This is the first week of the fall AHSAA season for Alabama high school sports and plenty of action happened on Thursday and Friday from around the area as stars shined in their return to action.

Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers the week before . To nominate a top performer, have a coach email sports@gadsdentimes.com . Voting will last until Thursday at noon.

• Boaz's Tyler Pierce - 14 of 16 for 244 yards and 5 touchdowns
• Cherokee County's Keyshawn Woods - three rushing touchdowns
• Gadsden City's Kai Franklin - 23 of 38 for 245 yards and two touchdowns
• Guntersville's Enelson Delva - 100 yards, three touchdowns
• Geraldine's Jordon Lankford - 95 yards rushing, three touchdowns, nine tackles

• Cherokee County's Macy Lea - 41 assists, seven digs, two aces (2 matches)
• Hokes Bluff's Mary Davenport - 35 kills (2 matches)
• Piedmont's Jaxon Bruce - 34 assists (3 matches)
• Sand Rock's Maddie Clanton - 28 assists (2 matches)
• Westbrook Christian's Raylee Neal - 33 assists and five digs (2 matches)
