    After three months off, high school sports are back.

    And with that comes everyone's favorite part of the week: The Gainesville Sun Athlete of the Week Poll!

    Here are the best of the bunch for high school sports events held Aug. 19-25.

    Coaches, administrators, friends and family: Please send your nomination, along with their name, stats and why they should be nominated to Nram@gannett.com by Sunday afternoon.

    The poll will be open until 11:59 p.m. Thursday. Please share this poll with friends and family.

    Adrian Curtis, Hawthorne Football

    13-for-15 passing for 220 yards and three TDs in the first half in the Hornets' 51-0 win over Anclote.

    Alaina Thomas, Bell Volleyball

    83 digs (5 th in Florida) to start the season in the first three matches.

    Corvin Byrd, Eastside Football

    Nine carries for 76 yards and three TDs rushing in the Rams' 41-3 win over Belleview.

    Cassidy McDonald, Oak Hall Volleyball

    83 assists, 23 kills, 34 digs, 39 service points, 11 aces and 2 blocks in their 5-0 start.

    DeMarco Daniels, Eastside Football

    Interception and a blocked punt in the Rams' 41-3 win over Belleview.

    Devin Johnson, Gainesville High Football

    161 yards rushing and two TDs in the Hurricanes' 38-7 win over Braden River.

    Drew Simmons, Union County Football

    18 carries for 176 yards and a TD for the Fightin’ Tigers in their 14-13 win at Yulee.

    Gia McGrew, Santa Fe Volleyball

    Had a .455 hitting percentage for the Raiders in their two, straight-set wins.

    Hayden Moore, Newberry Football

    Two receptions for 51 yards and a TD and two interceptions and four tackles in the Panthers' 37-20 win over University Christian.

    Justin Williams, Buchholz Football

    Nine catches for 151 yards and a TD in the Bobcats' 24-7 win over Vanguard.

    Kailey Edmonds, Dixie County Volleyball

    Had a .337 hitting percentage, 17 serving aces, 36 kills and 38 aces.

    Kaleb Woods, Newberry Football

    12 carries for 159 yards and a TD, as well as a receiving TD in Panthers' 37-20 over University Christian.

    La’Harry DeBose, Newberry Football

    Three interceptions, five tackles and a fumble recovery in the Panthers' 37-20 win over University Christian.

    Landin Williams, Bell Football

    195 yards on 20 carries and four TDs in the Bulldogs' 34-24 win over Trenton.

    Madison Ward, Branford Volleyball

    Had a .462 hitting percentage and five total blocks for the Buccaneers in their 3-3 start to the season.

    Malana Kennard, Newberry Volleyball

    62 digs and 12 aces in the Panthers' 4-1 start to the season.

    Nicole Ellis, Gainesville High Volleyball

    16 total blocks (7 th in Florida) in the Hurricanes' 1-1 start.

    Samiyah Daniels, Eastside Volleyball

    11 total blocks and 25 kills.

    Sophie Thompson, Oak Hall Volleyball

    54 digs, 13 service points, 2 aces and 47 serve receptions in the Eagles' 5-0 start.

    Tucker Higginbotham, Lafayette football

    221 yards passing and five TDs (14-for-20 overall) in the Hornets' 38-12 win over Dixie County.

    Zamarion Jones, Columbia Football

    8-for-16 passing with 189 yards and two TDs, as well as 60 yards rushing in the Tigers' 13-0 win over Suwannee.
