Final scores: Week 3 Gainesville-area high school football results

A rivalry and difficult road trips define Week 3 of the 2024 high school football season in Alachua County.

Both GHS and Hawthorne travel west to the state capital. The Hornets face perennial playoff contender Florida High, and the Hurricanes — on their first 2-0 start in a decade — duel with Leon.

Newberry and Santa Fe both venture shorter distances: The Raiders to Union County and the Panthers to Vanguard, two teams that had impressive postseason runs in 2023.

Of course, at Citizens Field, the crosstown rivalry with Buchholz and Eastside returns with the 'Cats looking to extend their decade-long win streak.

In addition, schools like Williston and Bradford face teams in classes above them — the Red Devils at Land 'O Lakes and the Tornadoes hosting South Sumter.
