    Breaking down contract buyout for Florida football coach Billy Napier

    Buying out an SEC football coach has always been an expensive proposition.

    It's the same if Florida football wants to part ways with Billy Napier. But at this point, a parting appears inevitable.

    The Florida Gators (1-2, 0-1 SEC) dropped to 12-16 under Napier following a 33-20 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday at The Swamp. Florida also lost 41-17 to Miami in its opener and trailed by as many as 28 points in the second half against Miami and 26 points in the second half against TAMU.

    Napier's agent, Jimmy Sexton, negotiated a deal which will pay Napier 85% of its deal if he's fired without cause. That number currently stands at $27,996,875, but will mitigate with each game.

    Napier is owed 50% of the buyout within 30 days of his termination, with the remainder of the deal paid in four 12.5% installments, starting on the July 15 following his termination and continuing on each July 15 through the life of the deal, which runs through 2029.
