    Impact players: These 11 Gardner-area athletes are up for High School Athlete of the Week

    Last week,

    Julia LaPrade of Oakmont girls lacrosse The Gardner News Athlete of the Week. LaPrade earned her spot on the poll for her hattrick in Oakmont's game on April 9. She received 48.22% of the vote.

    Coming in next was Quabbin girls tennis' Annabelle Magill. She received 30.4% of the votes for her singles performance, winning both sets 6-0 to sweep her opponent and lead to an overall victory for Quabbin.

    Baseball

    Sam Curtis, Oakmont

    Curtis had a big game on April 15 against Lunenburg. The senior captain had two hits, including his first home run of his high school career, that helped lead the Spartans to a 9-4 victory.

    Joey Pineyro, Narragansett Regional

    Pineyro went 3-for-4 and delivered the winning run in Gansett's game against West Boylston on April 17. Teammate Charlie Ogonowski went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

    Ben Forbes, Oakmont

    Forbes helped the Spartans to a win against Pioneer Valley Regional on April 18, 6-4. He went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run.

    Softball

    Jen Buszkiewicz, Oakmont

    Buszkiewicz had three hits and four RBIs for the Spartans on April 15, leading the team to a 16-1 win over Lunenburg. Teammate Sophie Gaidanowicz added three hits and Alison Hazel had three RBIs.

    Meg Minns, Gardner

    Minns hit a two-run single in the sixth inning that gave Gardner the lead against Maynard on April 19. Alli Fitzsimmons added two hits and two RBIs and Violet Walsh helped defensively, striking out 10.

    Hannah Baxter, Quabbin

    The senior hit a three-run home run and totaled four RBIs to lead the Panthers past Quaboag 18-3 on April 19.

    Cassidy Paradis, Narragansett Regional

    Paradis went 3-for-3, including a triple and four RBIs, to help Narragansett defeat Gardner 12-1 on April 16. Amanda Iannacone added three hits and Mia Manca struck out 13.

    Girls Lacrosse

    Oakmont girls' lacrosse

    Ash Tata, Maryl Hooper and Meg Heffernan each scored a hat trick in Oakmont's game against Marlborough on April 16. The Spartans won 18-1.

    Boys Lacrosse

    Nahuel Suarez, Oakmont

    Suarez scored two goals for Oakmont in a loss against Wachusett on April 16.
