    These 33 Gardner-area athletes earned a first-place finish at the league meet

    Gardner-area track and field teams participated in league championship meets this week. Quabbin and Oakmont competed in the Mid-Wach C meet, Gardner in Mid-Wach D and Narragansett and Murdock were in the Mid-Wach E meet. Monty Tech, part of the Colonial Athletic League, will compete in its league meet on May 20.

    Mid-Wach C

    Quabbin

    The Quabbin boys track and field team took second overall at the Mid-Wach C championship. Conner Breeds was a double-winner in the 100 meter (0:11.53) and the 200 meter (0:23.51).

    Jinxi Zou won the 110 meter hurdles and Seth Twarog took pole vault.

    The girls placed fourth overall. Natalia Marchand ran a 1:01.55 for first place in the 400 meter. Abi Falconi was the top thrower in the shot put with a distance of 31-8.

    Oakmont

    Oakmont boys won both the 4 x 400 meter relay (Kaden Yoder, Eli Christ, Luke Martin and Jackson Traylor) and the 4 x 800 meter relay (Izaiah Dejesus, Samuel Belcher, Christ and Martin).

    Ryker Dionne placed first in the long jump with a distance of 19-7.5, Evan Young took the high jump at 5-10 and Travis Rusak threw 152 for first in javelin.

    Sara Curran was the sole first place finisher for Oakmont girls, coming out on top in the pole vault (8-6).

    Mid-Wach D

    Gardner

    Gardner's Ari Cuevas placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.48, making him the sole boys first-place finisher.

    Megan Bettez is a consistent 2-miler and proved that once again with her 12:57.79 time for first place.

    Mid-Wach E

    Narragansett Regional

    Jordan Baumann was a double winner in the 110-meter hurdles (0:16.13) and high jump (5-04). Quinn Wiedle came in first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.83

    Two of Narragansett's relays won, including the 4 x 400-meter relay (Judah Lorion, Aiden Bancroft, Chase Gould and Quin Wiedle) and the 4 x 800-meter relay (Julian Haydar, Adzere Mbwambo, Alex Jamieson and Ben MacMillan).

    For the girls, Shayla Massicotte took a first-place finish in the 2 mile running a time of 13:20.07. She also contributed to the winning 4 x 800 meter relay team, along with Ruby Keating, Eliza Vello and Leah Deane.

    Deane threw a 30-05 for the top spot in shot put and Ashlyn Duplessis jumped 5-02 in high jump.

    Murdock

    Benjamin Digman was Murdock's only boys first-place finisher. He took the top spot in the shot put, throwing 41-04.

    Avery Murphy was a double winner in the 800 meter (2:27.99) and 1 mile (5:14.82).
