A documentary that explores the struggles faced by North Carolina veterans when they complete their service will be screened in Gaston County next month.

"The Veteran's Battlefield" will be shown at 6 p.m. June 13 at the Gaston County Public Library's main branch, 1555, E. Garrison Blvd. in Gastonia. The free event is open to the public.

According to a news release from the county, the film was produced by 100 Strong Productions, a video production arm of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.

The Gaston County Veterans Services Administration and other local organizations will be at the screening distributing information and hosting community discussions surrounding veterans' services and support, it said.

"North Carolina is home to around 700,000 veterans and has the eighth-largest veteran population in the nation," the release said.
