Gastonia restaurant ranked 16th best in North Carolina according to Yelp

Webb Custom Kitchen located on South South Street in Gastonia has once again been recognized as one of the state’s best restaurants.

Webb came in at number 16 on Yelp’s recently released list of the top 100 restaurants in North Carolina.

Despite being recognized by local organizations, national publications, and restaurant associations , Webb’s current General Manager Nikki Wellman said the staff is always just as excited to receive recognition as they were the previous time.

Wellman has been in her role as general manager for just over a year, but has worked at the restaurant for roughly seven years.

“I’m a little bit competitive,” she said.

According to Wellman, she stays in touch with former general managers to maintain a friendly competition when it comes to the restaurant’s ratings and recognition.

Owner James Morasso said in previous interviews with The Gazette that he wanted Webb to be a centerpiece and staple of Gastonia’s downtown community.

Wellman said she believes through partnerships, fundraisers, and quality food, the restaurant is still striving to meet those same goals today.

The restaurant is well known for menu items like Angry Lobster and Duck Cigars, Wellman said, however one of her favorite menu items is the meatballs.

Meatballs are a newer addition to the menu and Wellman said they tend to fly under the radar with customers, but she would definitely recommend them.

Webb Custom Kitchen is open Tuesday-Thursday and Sundays from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 4-9:30 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 4-10:30 p.m., and Saturday from 4-10:30 p.m.
