    North Carolina high school football Week 3 final scores in Gastonia, Shelby area

    Here’s a look at how teams in Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties fared in Week 3, with a brief breakdown of their performance.

    Ashbrook 18, West Mecklenburg 0: The Green Wave offense came in the second half with a pair of touchdowns. Quamell Scott had a sack for a safety in addition to a blocked punt which rolled out of the end zone for another two points.

    Bessemer City 42, Avery County 17: Gavin Chastain threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns while Keon Smith rushed for 100 and another TD in helping the Yellow Jackets to a second straight win.

    Blacksburg (SC) 48, Cherryville 12: Blacksburg scored 34 points in the opening quarter in cruising to a win over Cherryville in the “Little Iron Bowl.”

    Crest 27, Shelby 14: Crest scored the game’s first 27 points as it won its third straight game over rival Shelby.

    East Gaston 27, Stuart Cramer 25: Caleb Smith’s field goal as time expired lifted the Warriors to a second straight win over their nearby rival.

    East Lincoln 52, Lincolnton 14: East Lincoln scored in each quarter, taking its eighth straight over rival Lincolnton.

    Freedom 26, Forestview 7: Chris Rayfield’s first home game as Forestview coach didn’t go as hoped, Freedom scoring the game’s first 26 points en route to a win.

    Highland Tech 8, Buford (SC) 7: A Jonah Jefferies touchdown plunge in the second quarter was followed by a two-point conversion by Cooper McCraw, which proved enough for the Rams to pick up their second win in a matter of days.

    Kings Mountain 41, Burns 20: Josiah Hill rushed for four touchdowns as the Mountaineers earned their seventh consecutive win over Burns.

    Providence 56, Hunter Huss 27: Providence scored 35 points in the first half in a rout of Huss.

    SouthLake Christian 21, Mountain Island Charter 10: SouthLake Christian scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters as it knocked off MICS.

    West Lincoln 27, Foard 21: West Lincoln did just enough to earn a win in the 2024 version of the “Battle of Hog Hill.”
