Gastonia sorority members are teaming up with area fraternities and the Black Voters Matter organization to bring local residents an opportunity to ask direct questions to candidates running in the upcoming election.

Starting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at St. Stephens AME Zion Church, 201 W. Franklin Blvd. in Gastonia, WSOC-TV’s Ken Lemon will moderate a Q&A session between the audience and the candidates.

According to Karen Bynum, a member of the Zeta Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. this event is not a debate, but rather, a chance for residents to get answers to specific questions.

Candidates who will be in attendance include:

    • Brenda Eskridge, Beverly (Robbie) Lovelace, and Che’z (Shea) Adams, who are running for a spot on the board of education
    • Sydnie Hutchinson and Donnie Loftis, who are running for a spot in the North Carolina House of Representatives
    • Cory Creech, who is running for a spot in the North Carolina Senate
    • Kristen Moyer, who is running for Gaston County Register of Deeds
