    PREP ROUNDUP: Greeneville Sweeps Cherokee In Tennis

    ROGERSVILLE — The Greeneville tennis teams swept Cherokee on Monday with the Greene Devils winning 8-1 and the Lady Devils winning 7-2.

    In boys, Greeneville’s Jackson Weems, Jack Lampe and Nick Thomas each had singles wins. Weems and Thomas, and Dominic Tweed and Issac McGill teamed for doubles wins.

    In girls, Greeneville’s Emma Waddell, Emma Sauceman, Maggie Morelock, Kiley Scott, Abi Kate Moore and Brylee Catron had singles wins. Waddell and Sauceman teamed for a doubles win.

    Braddock Barefield and Scott were named game ballers.

    SOFTBALL Greeneville 14 Volunteer 7

    CHURCH HILL — Greeneville cranked out 23 hits and improved to 16-11 on the season.

    Greeneville’s Kyla Jobe went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI from the lead-off spot, and Lydia Darnell was 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI.

    Kaley Garland was 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI, Lauren Million and Leah Phillips each went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Madison Carpenter was 3-for-5, Stoan Rader was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Brynlee Jones was 2-for-5 and Destani Bailey had a hit and two RBI.

    BASEBALL Greeneville 13 Volunteer 1 (6)

    Greeneville had 16 hits en route to the run-rule win in six innings.

    Greeneville’s Will Harmon went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, Maddox Bishop was 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBI, Kaine Ricker was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Colton Richards was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Carson Quillen was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Noah Murray was 2-for-2, Eli House had a hit and two RBI, Connor Ireland had a double and Corbin Cannon had a hit.

    Quillen drew the start on the mound for Greeneville and pitched five innings for the win. He gave up three hits, a run, walked four and struck out five.

    Sam Thompson tossed a perfect inning of relief, striking out one.

    Greeneville improves to 15-10.

    South Greene 16 Hampton 2 (6)

    HAMPTON — Seth Franklin went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI as South Greene improved to 12-9.

    South Greene’s Colton Fillers was 2-for-4, Brendan Lisenby had a hit and two RBI, and Tyler Buckner and Graydon Rader each had a hit.

    Dustin Crum went the distance on the mound for the win. In five innings, he gave up four hits, walked one and struck out seven. Hampton’s two runs were unearned.

    West Greene 25 Hancock County 0 (4)

    MOSHEIM — West Greene improved to 14-6 with the run-rule win in four innings.

    West Greene had 13 hits, and Hancock County committed six errors that led to 11 unearned runs for the Buffaloes.

    West Greene’s Conner Campbell went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Kaven Greene and Mason McCamey each went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Ethan Carpenter was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Maddox Garber had a double, a sacrfice fly and five RBI, Jhonen Bath had a hit and two RBI, Christian Hunter had a hit and an RBI, and Judson Higgins had a hit.

    Carpenter went the distance on the mound for the win. In four innings, he gave up a hit, walked one and struck out seven.
