    County Shooting Team Wins State Title

    The Greene County 4-H Shotgun Team claimed its first state championship on May 4 at the Nashville Gun Club in Nashville.

    The Greene County Senior High team of Mason Philbeck (Greeneville High), Robby Hinman (Greeneville High), Baylor Wagner (West Greene High), Randy Strickland (Chuckey-Doak High) and Brayden Broyles (home school) won the state title. All five members have qualified to compete this summer for a spot on Team Tennessee that will shoot at nationals in the fall.

    Christian Johnson (Chuckey-Doak High) competed as an individual and also qualified to compete for a spot on Team Tennessee.

    Other Competitors, William “T” Ricker (South Greene Middle) and Denver Huff (Greeneville Middle) also competed as individuals and set career-high scores.

    Hinman, Philbeck and Wagner were also named as 2nd, 8th and 9th high individuals, respectively.

    The Greene County team coached by Ken Harrison with assistant coaches Bob Tompkins, Ron Mullins and Conley Broyles.
