It’s Greeneville’s first girls golf region championship since 2014 and its first since moving up into the larger classification.

    BOWLING Greeneville Splits

Greeneville and Cherokee took to the lanes Wednesday afternoon to start off the 2024-25 season and there was plenty of back-and-forth action with both teams battling through some friendly competition.

Each school had their own highlights before finally splitting the two wins.

Cierra Laster paced the Lady Chiefs in game 1 with a 183, while Lillian Brown chipped in with a 151, giving their team the early 5-3 advantage. Bethanie Bryant kept the Lady Devils within striking distance with a 176.

In the second game, the Lady Chiefs pulled away to a 12-4 lead behind Brown’s 168, Laster’s 166, Maddie Taylor’s 154, and Lauren Winegar’s 152. Bryant, once again, paced the Lady Devils with a 155.

The Lady Chiefs proceeded to close out the 23-4 win by taking the two Baker games 158-81 and 148-107.

Greeneville’s boys jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the first game, before extending it to 12-4 after two. Dante Smith topped out at 213, while Jon Gilbert rolled a 167 and 159. Evan Litchfield assisted with a 158, before the Chiefs put on a push to crawl back into the match. Seth Manis finished with a 170 and a 166 to give the Chiefs some momentum, headed into the Baker games.

The Greene Devils took a close 152-150 win in the first Baker game, while the Chiefs took a commanding 177-110 win in the second, but it wasn’t enough in the end as the Greene Devils came away with the 18-9 win.
