HARROGATE — Tusculum University Pioneers played to a 1-1 draw with the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer Wednesday afternoon.

Wilma Axelsson scored in the 18th minute for the Pioneers (2-5-1, 0-2-1 SAC) and Jade Brown tallied in the 26th minute for the Railsplitters (2-3-2, 1-1-2 SAC). Lincoln Memorial outshot Tusculum 23-6 in the match, but Pioneer keeper Angel Chase made a season-high 10 saves to preserve the deadlock.

Chase was tested early, making five saves in the first 13 minutes with three stops against Ryan Branson, including a sliding tackle in the eighth minute and a dive to her left in the 13th minute.

Axelsson scored her first career goal to put the Pioneers up 1-0 at 17:13. Sydney Grant carried from the left side into the middle and delivered a pass to Axelsson, who fired a shot to the far top corner against LMU keeper Bente Latenstein.

Lincoln Memorial leveled the match at 25:50 as a shot in the box was blocked back to Brown, who had Chase on the ground as she fired home her first goal of the season.

Lincoln Memorial had a 7-2 edge in corner kicks and the Railsplitters were called for nine fouls to eight for the Pioneers. Each team was flagged once for offsides.

Tusculum was scheduled to travel to Mars Hill on Saturday for a SAC match, but that contest has been postponed due to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
