    Wife Of Former Golf Coach Dibble Dies

    The Tusculum University family mourns the passing of Cindy Dibble, the wife of legendary TU golf coach Bob Dibble. Mrs. Dibble passed away last week at the Holston Valley Medical Center.

    Bob and Cindy were married for 65 years, including 28 (1989-2017) when she was the “First Lady” of the Tusculum men’s and women’s golf programs.

    Mrs. Dibble supported the Tusculum golf team in a variety of ways, including traveling with the Pioneers on trips, while also serving as the official scorer for TU’s home golf tournaments during those 28 seasons.

    “Cindy was an institution with our golf programs and our student-athletes over the span of three decades,” said Josh Ealy, Vice President of Athletics. “She loved her Pioneers and they loved her. She has left a wonderful legacy as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandchildren, which were all her passion. Our thoughts and prayers go out to coach Dibble and the entire Dibble family.”

    “Cindy was a lady in every sense of the word,” said Dom Donnelly, TU Associate Athletic Director for Communications. “Not only our student-athletes, but golfers and coaches from other colleges and universities adored seeing Cindy. I will miss her very much.”

    She is survived by her husband Bob, daughter and son-in-law: Sandy & Clint Hayes of Rock Hill, South Carolina.; two sons, Tim and Valerie Dibble of Powder Springs, Georgia; and son Chris Dibble & Tammy Lohren of Knoxville; Grandchildren: Riley & Nikki Galloway, Cody & Amber Galloway, Shannon Galloway, Kaitlin Galloway, Maggie Backwinkel, Tim & Marissa Combs, Madison Dibble, Kennedy Kauffman, Jackson Dibble; Great Grandchildren: Annalise Galloway, Les Galloway, Rian Galloway, Ben Galloway, Payton Coats, Kason Coats, Rylan Coats, AJ Combs, Daunte Combs, Forrest Combs, Olivia Combs, Jasmin Combs.

    Cindy was preceded in death by two children: Mark Dibble and Brett Dibble. She was the daughter of the late Edward & Fannie Riley.

    Cindy was a member and officer of The Ladies of the Moose and the Dibbles attended Central Christian Church.

    Cindy’s ashes will be laid to rest with her two children in St Joseph, Missouri.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

    Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

    FOOTBALL Limestone 49 Tusculum 21

    WHITE PINE — Dustin Noller passed for 228 yards and four touchdowns to lead Limestone University to a South Atlantic Conference win on Saturday at Lakeway Field.

    The game was moved to the campus of Lakeway Christian Academy due to the on-going flood recovery efforts in Greeneville and Greene County.

    The Saints (4-1, 3-0 SAC) snap a four-game losing streak to the Pioneers (0-4, 0-3 SAC) as both teams will begin SAC Divisional play next weekend.

    Limestone amassed 422 yards offensively on 51 plays while holding onto the football for only 19:40. Running back Kevin Lalin rushed for 186 yards on 18 carries including a 71-yarder on the first play out of the locker room to set-up a touchdown.

    The Pioneers finished 339 total yards on the afternoon including 255 on the ground as Jalen Hunt rushed for 85 yards on a dozen carries. Jojo Restall had a 11 rush attempts for 52 yards and touchdown, while freshman quarterback Kamden Wellington recorded his first collegiate start rushing for 45 yards and posted 18 passing yards with a touchdown.

    Defensively, Limestone’s Luke Janack led all players with his 13 tackles including a dozen solo stops with two for loss while Zero Johnson finished with 10 hits.

    Tusculum’s Marcel Bowes tallied six tackles, while Daryl Smith and Rashad Watson had five tackles each.

    Tusculum established a new school single-game record for time of possession with 40:20, surpassing the previous mark of 40:02 against Cumberland (Ky.) on Oct. 10, 1992.

    Tusculum will host Emory & Henry at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Field.

    WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL Anderson 3 Tusculum 2

    ANDERSON, S.C. — Anderson defeated Tusculum 20-25, 28-26, 23-25, 25-22, 10-15 in South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday.

    The Pioneers drop to 5-9 overall and 3-3 in the SAC, while the Trojans improve to 6-7, 3-3.

    Tusculum’s Whitney Thompson contributed a season-best 14 kills, ahead of 12 by Addison McLarty on a .367 hitting percentage. Six other Pioneers added kills to the column: Olivia Crowl (7), Karris Oller (6), Madison Adkins (4), Taylor Sanders (4), Martina Foster (3), and McKayla Willey (2). Adkins was responsible for 41 assists, while Macey Snapp landed a personal-best trio of aces. Amiranee Au dug up 25 attempts, as Snapp had a career day with 16 digs. Adkins tied her collegiate-high with six total blocks (two solo, four assists).

    Tusculum will play at Emory & Henry at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

    SOCCER Schedule Updates

    In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, changes have been made to the upcoming schedules for the Tusculum men’s and women’s soccer teams.

    MEN’S SOCCER

    • The Pioneers’ scheduled non-conference game on Tuesday at North Greenville has been canceled.

    • The match against Anderson that was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 30 beginning at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Field.

    • The match with Mars Hill that was slated for Saturday, Oct. 5 has been moved to Monday, Nov. 4 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Mars Hill.

    WOMEN’S SOCCER

    • Tusculum’s match with Anderson from Sept. 28 will now be played at Pioneer Field on Wednesday, Oct. 9 starting at 5 p.m.

    • The Oct. 5 match with Mars Hill was moved to Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at Mars Hill.

    • The non-conference match at Lander that was scheduled to be played on Wednesday, Oct. 30 has been canceled.
