Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBW) is expanding its Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program to the Greenville campus, offering students more local access to a career in healthcare. According to a statement from the college, beginning this spring, students in Greenville will be able to pursue both a Certificate in Practical Nursing and an associate in applied science degree in Nursing.

“Licensed practical nurses and registered nurses are both among the 25 highest in-demand occupations, with over 350 annual openings in Alabama,” the statement said, citing data from the Alabama Department of Labor.

Maggie Mash, LBW’s Director of Marketing, emphasized the program’s success.

“The program has an excellent job placement rate and currently boasts a 100% licensure pass rate,” Mash said, noting however that “the application deadline is quickly approaching on October 1.”
