Hauntings
10.20pm, BBC Two
It’s spooky season, so here’s a new series that revisits some of the greatest unsolved paranormal cases and speaks to those involved. A double bill starts with the Enfield poltergeist, which – despite having had a few televised retellings in the last 12 months – is always a spine-tingling tale. Next, it’s the story of the Perron family in Rhode Island in 1971 that inspired the hit movie The Conjuring. Hollie Richardson
BBC Young Musician 2024: Semi-Final
7.30pm, BBC Four
Two pianists, a cellist, two violinists and a harpist make up the six semi-finalists in this year’s hunt for the next big thing in classical music. Saxophonist Jess Gillam hosts proceedings in the Great Hall at Swansea University, where the three finalists will be named. HR
Showtrial
9pm, BBC One
This proudly modern drama exploring culture war bullet points, from corrupt coppers to the schism between environmental protesters and climate sceptics, continues. As a police chat group comes under scrutiny and the case against Justin builds, Adeel Akhtar and Michael Socha are both excellent as the mutually suspicious solicitor and suspect. Phil Harrison
Joan
9pm, ITV1
In the concluding week of this jewel thief drama (the finale is on Monday at 9pm), the world of diamonds turns into a big bag of coal for Joan (Sophie Turner): an IRA attack, a prison beating and a potential further 10 years behind bars. And yet, she’s making plans for one more heist. HR
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins
9pm, Channel 4
By the penultimate episode, the 15 celebrities, including wrestler Anthony Ogogo and presenter Cherry Healey, have been whittled down to seven exhausted husks, forced to carry heavy ammunition and equipment over punishing terrain. As leader Foxy says: “This is when we see who really wants to be here.” Or who just really likes mud wrestling. Ali Catterall
The Poisoning: How to Kill Your Husband
9pm, Channel 5
There’s something nasty in the spag bol, and that’s just the first course of villainy served up by a Yorkshire wife in this true-crime documentary. The story is told via interviews with the victim’s loved ones, plus home videos and family photos, making for an unusually insightful example of the genre. Ellen E Jones
