672 companies from California made the list

According to Governor Gavin Newsom’s office, California has 672 companies on the list, including six companies in the national top 20.

These six companies offer services ranging from global storage solutions for travelers to cyber insurance and clean energy solutions for homeowners.

California has fifth largest economy in the world

According to Newsom, California has the most dynamic, entrepreneurial economy in the country.

"Businesses that start and grow here change the world. It’s why we’re the 5th largest economy in the world and continue creating more jobs than any other state,” said Newsom in a statement.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, California is the 5th largest economy in the world for the seventh consecutive year, with a nominal gross domestic product (GDP) of nearly $3.9 trillion in 2023 and a growth rate of 6.1% since the year prior.

Newsom’s office says California has the largest market share of tourism in the nation – travel spending in the state reached an all-time high of $150.4 billion last year.

In addition, they say the state has over 750,000 fast food jobs as of July 2024.
