Rock Hill point guard Aubrey Stevenson has committed to the College of Charleston, head coach Kenny Orr announced in a tweet Tuesday night.

Stevenson, a rising senior, is entering her second season with the Bearcats after playing her freshman and sophomore years at Legion Collegiate Academy.

As Rock Hill’s starting point guard last year, Stevenson was third on the team with 10.4 points per game, second with 6.3 rebounds and led the team with 6.1 assists as the Bearcats advanced all the way to the 5A state championship game.

Known for her quickness and play-making ability, Orr said something that drew Stevenson to College of Charleston was how similar the offense is to Rock Hill’s. Both teams play very fast with a ball-dominant point guard who dictates the pace of play and sets up the offense. Stevenson also was drawn to the school academically and plans to major in computer science.

The reason for Stevenson making the decision so soon is so she can enjoy the rest of her senior year without having to worry the stressors of college recruiting or commitments.

Stevenson also plays for the Team Curry 17U team.
