South Carolina officials are continuing a search for a swimmer reported missing who lost contact with a boat Sunday at Lake Wylie, officials said Monday.

The missing swimmer was one of two people Sunday evening whose boat was pushed away by wind after going swimming, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources said in a social media statement. One of the people was rescued by another boat, while the other remains missing, DNR officials said Monday.

No other information about the missing swimmer has been released.

The area of the search is south of the Buster Boyd Bridge, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office . The lake is on the border of York County and North Carolina.

Deputies and DNR officers searched the lake Sunday night until dark when weather and nightfall caused the search to be suspended until Monday morning.

What idiot jumps off of a boat with heavy wind without a life jacket? I pass by there daily and no way someone could swim across before drowning.
