Clear Spring’s Kehr, Boonsboro’s Hartle voted preseason players of the year

Clear Spring’s Dawson Kehr and Boonsboro’s Sydney Hartle, both seniors, were voted the Washington County high school preseason players of the year in baseball and softball.

The voting was conducted online Tuesday afternoon through noon Thursday.

Kehr earned the baseball honor with 21.21% of the vote (372 votes). Last year, he batted .338 with three home runs, four doubles and 22 RBIs, including a walk-off single in the 1A West Region II semifinals and a walk-off homer in the state final. On the mound, he went 2-0 with 51 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings.

Hartle was the softball winner with 17.11% of the vote (326 votes). Last year, she batted .545 with three homers, a triple, 12 doubles and a county-high 43 RBIs.
