Local school administrators nominated students who have shown outstanding academic and school achievement, and provided the details on their accomplishments below.

Cole Horst, Heritage Academy: Cole, a senior, is an academically strong student who faithfully gets his work done. A three-sport athlete, Cole plays soccer, basketball and baseball at Heritage. His teachers would say he is a very respectful young man. Cole helps and serves others willingly at any time. We always see him mentoring younger students. The younger students look up to him. Cole is a great student who is always a hard worker and diligent in his work. He is always kind and helpful, and will do whatever is asked of him. Cole is a second-generation Heritage Academy student.

Tina Sites, South Hagerstown High School: Tina, a junior, is representative of diligence and determination. She consistently portrays a drive to do her absolute best. Tina's interest in the "why" behind her assignments lends itself to her creative side as well. Furthermore, she is a leader. She's always willing to help those who need it, and, like a good leader, Tina is completely willing to reflect and change her premise when needed. Her characteristics and attributes ultimately do much to show a well-rounded individual with fantastic potential.

Mary Dorment, Smithsburg High School: Mary, a sophomore, is a wonderful student and person. She goes above and beyond in everything she does. Mary is part of the Smithsburg Academic Leadership Team (SALT) academy, participating in leadership activities throughout the school and community. She does this while taking a rigorous class schedule. Mary is a great role model for students in the classroom and is very helpful toward her peers. Mary also works hard to help younger students in the leadership academy to become student and community leaders.

Reese Sitter, Boyd J. Michael III Technical High School: Reese, a senior, is an amazing student with a great attitude. She is about to successfully finish her nine college credits as part of the Criminal Justice Program. Reese also has earned the Emergency Dispatch certification. Reese and two classmates won gold/1st place for the state SkillsUSA competition and will compete in Atlanta for the national championship for crime scene investigations. Reese has played volleyball during all four years of high school and is a martial arts black belt. She volunteers for the Student Government Association (SGA) and helped to organize the senior picnic and teacher appreciation week. Through her work, Reese has become a certified pool operator and a lifeguard.

Makynzie Golden, Hancock Middle Senior High School: Makynzie is a diligent senior, consistently demonstrating excellence in and out of the classroom. Her commitment to academic achievement has earned her membership in the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. Beyond her academic pursuits, Makynzie devotes herself to serving her school community. As an apprentice at the local elementary school, Makynzie is recognized for her dedication to helping students enhance their literacy skills. Her passion for making a difference extends to her extracurricular activities as well. Whether it's through dance or go-kart racing, Makynzie exemplifies leadership qualities and a drive for success. Her well-rounded dedication to academic and extracurricular endeavors truly sets her apart.

Jordany Anderson, Global Vision Christian School Broadfording: Jordany, a senior, is a team captain on the boys' varsity baseball team. He is a leader among his peers. Jordany serves as a student aide for a middle-school math class. He also has served as English as a Second Language support for Spanish-speaking students. Jordany is respectful and has a servant's heart.

Salomeh Grullon, Boonsboro High School: Salomeh, a senior, is a great reader and writer in her English classes. She has many facets and interests that make her a well-balanced student. Salomeh is a member of the National English Honor Society. She also is a dance captain for the Boonsboro Show Choir. Salomeh is a student advocate for the SGA, working hard to represent her student constituents well.
