Week 4 of the Washington County high school football season is in the books. Here's what happened:

    Williamsport 19, Clear Spring 7

Gabe Parker threw three touchdown passes, including two to David Grayton, and the Wildcats (3-1) improved to 18-0 all-time against the Blazers (3-1) on Clear Spring's muddy, rain-drenched field.

"According to MaxPreps this week, we are the No. 1 passing attack in the MPSSAA, which is pretty cool, but we just want to be 1-0 each week," Williamsport coach Tim Small said. "The kids pay attention to that stuff, but we've just got to keep getting better and pushing forward."

Parker's 15-yard scoring pass to Grayton capped Williamsport's first offensive possession, and the Wildcats led 7-0 at halftime.

"We got up quick, then had a lot of penalties tonight, so the game was ugly at times," Small said. "They did the best they could with the field, but it was tough tonight with the wind and the mud."

Parker found Grayton over the middle for a 4-yard TD with 3:28 left in the third quarter for a 13-0 lead.

In a pivotal sequence at the start of the fourth quarter, the Wildcats pinned Clear Spring deep in its territory with a punt, then recovered a fumble at the 3-yard line. On the next play, Parker threw to Ceonta Wilmore in the right flat and he scored with 11:28 left for a 19-0 lead.

"Clear Spring has played good ball all year and we knew it was going to be a challenge tonight," Small said. "We had to be ready to go, and they never stopped fighting. I was happy especially in the third quarter with the way we settled in and executed."

The Blazers got on the board on Hayden Hodge's 13-yard scoring pass to Will Bennett with 8:12 left. It was set up by a short pass over the middle that Alex Matthews turned into a 43-yard gain.

Saint James 16, South Hagerstown 0

The Saints (3-2) snapped a two-game losing streak, shutting down the host Rebels (1-3) in sloppy field conditions.

"This was like a 75% game," Saint James coach John Root said. "You got 75% of our ability, and 75% of their ability. It was just a messy game. I think both teams would have liked to have a clean field to kind of open up our offenses and be able to run with our defense. But it is what it is. We'll take the win.

"Our line was pretty effective. … I'm happy with the way we were able to control the ball, and defensively, we smothered them."

The Saints went up 6-0 late in the first quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run by Sammy Stonebraker. They extended the lead to 13-0 late in the third as quarterback Jayden Yates scored on a 12-yard keeper. A 30-yard field goal by Jorge Diaz Nicolas made it 16-0 in the fourth.

On defense, Keenan Braylock had a pair of intereceptions for Saint James, which improved to 5-0 against Washington County competition since 2021.

"We'd love to play more Washington County teams," Root said. "They're always good games. We're nearby, and we'll come to them."

    Hancock 49, Hundred 20

Jacob Anderson had three touchdown runs, and Aiden McCarty had a hand in three TDs as the visiting Panthers (1-3) defeated the Hornets (0-4) for their first win.

McCarty passed to Shawn Thomas for a 71-yard score, before rushing for a TD and returning a fumble recovery 51 yards to the end zone.

Jayten McCarty added a TD run for Hancock.

Spring Mills 64, North Hagerstown 0

The Cardinals, who are No. 1 in the WVSSAC Class AAAA state ratings, improved to 5-0 with a dominant performance against the host Hubs (0-4).

Spring Mills has outscored its opponents 254-0 this season.

    Middletown 36, Boonsboro 0

Britt Poffenbarger scored on a 75-yard run in the first quarter and threw three touchdown passes to Clinton Lee in the second quarter as the visiting Knights improved to 4-0 with a dominant performance Thursday night against the previously unbeaten Warriors (3-1).

Also in the second quarter, Middletown's Hayden Smith blocked a Boonsboro punt at the Warriors' 10-yard line, and Colin Woodruff scooped it up and took it to the end zone.

Boonsboro quarterback Colin Telemeco was helped off the field with an apparent leg injury late in the first quarter and never returned. Logan Atkinson took the snaps under center the rest of the way for the Warriors, who were shut out for the first time since 2021.

    Brunswick 38, Smithsburg 0

The Railroaders (3-1) bounced back from a home loss to Boonsboro with a convincing road win over the Leopards (0-4), who were shut out for the second straight week.
