On Saturday, Sept. 28, the YMCA will hold its ColorSplash 5K event. The three-mile run/walk will start at Fairgrounds Park, continue through Pangborn Park, and then back to Fairgrounds Park via Pangborn Boulevard and Security Road.

To provide a safe route for the participants, lanes on the following roads will be closed starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday:

    • Pangborn Boulevard — the street will be closed to northbound traffic between Security Road and the Pangborn Park driveway entrance, and northbound traffic will be forced to detour around the closure.  Southbound traffic will continue to flow on this section of street but will be shifted into the northbound lane at the closure.
    • Security Road — the street will be closed to westbound traffic between Pangborn Boulevard and Cleveland Avenue, and westbound traffic will be forced to detour around the closure. Eastbound traffic will continue to flow on this section of street.

Officers from the Hagerstown Police Department and the auxiliary police will be along the route to direct traffic.

Motorists approaching the closures will encounter cones, barricades and other traffic control devices.

It is anticipated that the road portion of the race will be completed by 11 a.m.

Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through these lane closure areas during the event.

For more information, contact the city of Hagerstown's Engineering Department at 301-739-8577 ext. 125.
