    Visit Hagerstown hosts Maryland Motorcoach Association annual meeting

    The Visit Hagerstown Convention and Visitors Bureau welcomed 400 attendees at the Maryland Motorcoach Association’s (MMA) Annual Group Leader Travel Showcase and Operators Meeting.

    The events took place Sept. 22-24, at the Hampton Inn Hagerstown, Interstate 81 and at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum.

    The meeting is a premier event for group travel professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region. The event provides attendees with educational sessions on a variety of industry topics, including tax benefits, insurance, marketing and sales, and legislative and regulatory updates.

    Visit Hagerstown partners connected with other group travel professionals, industry experts and other representatives from Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

    More than 70 vendors were on hand to promote their group-friendly destinations and attractions.

    Group leaders were served lunch, sponsored by Visit Hagerstown and Visit Frederick, and watched a variety show performed by members of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Washington County Playhouse and Antietam Recreation.

    Visit Hagerstown staff, board members and industry partners lead tour operators and group leaders on themed tours showcasing various sites within Washington County, including the Fort Ritchie History Museum, Ivy Hill Farm, various African American Heritage sites, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Maryland Theatre, Antietam National Battlefield and more.

    Taking place for the first time in Hagerstown at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum, tour operators and group leaders had the opportunity to learn about the history of Fairchild Aviation at the museum.

    In addition, the towns of Smithsburg, Sharpsburg, Boonsboro and the City of Hagerstown were present to promote their historic sites, museums, food and beverage options and attractions.
