    AUG. 10

    • The Washington County Master Gardeners will hold a workshop on pollinators Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro. Taught in and out of the garden. Learn about pollinator benefits and discuss ways to attract and protect them. $15. Advance registration required.     • Frederick-based tattoo artists Aaron Harman and Mike Adams will host Drawing for Tattoos: Illustrative Composition, Concept and Light Thursday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts , 401 Museum Drive (in the City Park), Hagerstown.     • Washington Goes Purple and the Washington County Arts Council invites artists from all backgrounds and experiences to submit artwork in any medium for the Washington Goes Purple "Happiness by Choice: ReStory Your Life" exhibit . The exhibit hopes to promote understanding surrounding addiction, and aims to celebrate the courage and resilience of individuals who are on the journey of recovery.     AUG. 17, first workshop

    • Artist Nicole Troup is holding the Gilded Portrait Workshop over two Saturdays, Aug. 17 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts , 401 Museum Drive (in the City Park), Hagerstown.     AUG. 20, first auditions

    AUG. 23, registration deadline

    • The Hagerstown Community College’s Alumni Association will hold its 31st HCC Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 13, at noon at Black Rock Golf Course, 20025 Mt. Aetna Road, Hagerstown. Open to all. Four-person scramble format. $150 per player, includes carts and greens fees, a cart lunch, after-tournament buffet dinner, mulligans, ball throws, individual and team prizes, longest drive and closest to the pin awards, a chance to win a Mercedes-Benz lease, pro shop certificates and more.     • The eighth annual Franklin County (Pa.) Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament is set for Friday, Aug. 30, at Penn National Golf Club, 3720 Club House Drive, Fayetteville, Pa. Hosted by the Franklin County Commissioners and the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs. Golfers play preferred course, based on availability. Two winning teams — Founders and Iron Forge. Each member of those winning teams will win a seven-night resort stay for two. $50,000 hole-in-one contest. Winners of the Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive contests from each course win a five-day, four-night cruise for two. In-game contests, raffles, networking opportunities and more. $520 per foursome, includes greens fees, carts, a light breakfast, lunch, on-course refreshments and an appreciation gift for each golfer. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m., shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch and awards presentation will conclude the day. Sponsorships available.     SEPT. 13, application deadline

    • Applications are now available for free art classes for children Saturdays, Sept. 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26, Nov. 2, 9, 16, at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts , 401 Museum Drive (in the City Park), Hagerstown. Students will explore a wide variety of media and art styles, and will see the museum’s exhibitions. Classes are offered to children in grades one through five from 10 a.m. to noon and to children in grades six through eight from 1 to 3 p.m. Parents/guardians must fill out applications online. Registration is first-come, first-served. Deadline to apply is Friday, Sept. 13, or until classes are filled. Acceptance notifications will be sent to guardians/parents by Tuesday, Sept. 10.     SEPT. 14, day of event

    • Registration is now open for the NHL’s Washington Capitals DMV Girls Try Hockey For Free Day , taking place Saturday, Sept. 14, with the Hagerstown Bulldogs at the Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex, 580 Security Road, Hagerstown.
