WESTPORT — A local sandwich shop said its final farewell to customers this past weekend, closing its doors after over 2 years on Route 177.

Countryside Market , a small, family-owned butcher and deli located at 549 American Legion Highway, shared via their Facebook page that Saturday, Sept. 28, was their last day in business.

They first announced plans for closure last Monday, Sept. 23, giving loyal patrons a week to stop in and get one last taste.

"We have some sad news to share with you. Although we have put our hearts and souls into our business, we had to make the hard decision to close," the Sept. 23 post reads.

"We want to thank all of our amazing customers, staff, family and friends for all your love and support the last 2+ years. We truly appreciate each and every one of you."

Countryside Market was a go-to for breakfast, lunch or dinner offerings and treats.

Their menu featured breakfast sandwiches and burritos available all day along with handcrafted sandwiches, salads, and power bowls.

Their grab-and-go case served up a variety of soups and entrees that changed daily. They also offered Jim’s Organic Coffee, desserts, vegan options, "Boar's Head deli products and hand-cut restaurant-quality proteins."

While news of their closure was met with disappointment from market-goers, that Westport location won't be shuttered for long. According to Countryside, a new eatery will open in that location soon.

"Keep your eyes open over the next few weeks when passing by for the grand opening of another great cafe," Countryside stated via Facebook.
