    Rhea man charged with second-degree murder in overdose

    RHEA COUNTY — A Rhea County man is facing a second-degree murder charge after allegedly providing fentanyl to a woman who died from a drug overdose, according to documents on file at the Rhea County Circuit Court Clerk’s office.

    Jeremy Adam Grim is facing a charge of second-degree murder and a charge of delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance resulting in death after being indicted by the Rhea County Grand Jury for those charges on Monday, Aug. 5.

    The indictment for second-degree murder states that Grim “did unlawfully and recklessly kill (a woman) by unlawful dispensation of fentanyl (…].” The second indictment for delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance states that Grim “did unlawfully deliver a controlled substance, to-wit: Fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance, in the amount of less than 0.5 grams, and said delivery did result in death to another person (…].”

    Officials at the Rhea County Circuit Court Clerk’s office said on Thursday that Grim’s next court appearance is set for Monday, Sept. 9, and according to jail records, Grim has since bonded out of jail.

    Why do we always have to blame the dealer? I don't agree with what they do but it seems like the addicts get away with everything. He didn't force her to take it she did it her self. I believe he should be charged with sales but not killing her.

    Good, drug dealers should be charged for murder of someones overdose death. And held responsible for a persons medical bills resulting from a overdose.
