DAYTON — We Care Community Services Inc. celebrated the retirement of founders Walter and Ina Ring at the Thrift Center on July 18.

Over 40 years ago, Walter and Ina observed a need in Rhea County and took that first bold step forward to find ways to meet those needs. What began in a small room, heated by a little wood stove, has evolved into a multifaceted agency synonymous with service in Rhea County.

We Care officals said that Walter often quoted Thedore Roosevelt, who said, “Do what you can, where you are, with what you have.” And this is exactly what We Care has been doing since 1982.

The Thrift Center, the backbone of this agency, grew unbelievably under Ina Carol’s guidance, commitment and hard work. Walter Ring became the community’s first licensed clinical psychologist while serving as president/CEO.

Together they created a legacy in the community of God’s love in action.

We Care officials said they are committed to continuing to build upon their passionate vision for this community and to always advocate for our neighbors.

“Walter and Ina’s love has touched countless lives and their legacy will continue to touch countless more,” officials said. “They are truly loved and appreciated.”
