DAYTON — Bobby D. Vincent recently announced his retirement from the duties of foreman for the Rhea County Grand Jury.

“It has been a distinct pleasure to serve the citizens of Rhea County in this capacity,” Vincent said. “The function of the grand jury is an important one in our justice system. We are entrusted to make a judgement on the facts, evidence and testimonies presented to us. If the members of the jury are in agreement, we decide the case does or does not merit being decided in a criminal court.

“I have been fortunate to have been given yet another opportunity to serve both our city and now our county as well. As many of you may remember, I was the first ‘elected’ mayor of Dayton and served in that capacity for eight years prior to retiring. Prior to being elected as mayor, I served as the vice mayor for four years and served an additional 20 years on the Dayton City Council. Thank you, again, for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Dayton and Rhea County over these many years!”
