DAYTON — The City of Dayton recently announced the naming of Lewis Lane in honor of the late Dayton City Councilman Jim Lewis, who dedicated his professional life to serving our community in multiple capacities including 30 years of service in the Tennessee Highway Patrol and as a member of the Dayton City Council.

"Lewis was a beloved leader who made significant contributions to the growth and development of our city," city officials said. "As a city council member, he worked tirelessly to advocate for the needs of our residents and to improve the quality of life for all. His passion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service have left a permanent mark on our community.

"The dedication of Lewis Lane serves as a lasting tribute to his exemplary service and enduring legacy. It is a fitting way to honor his profound impact on our city and to ensure that his name and contributions will be remembered for generations to come."

Traffic coming off of Market Street will be one lane until the end of the buildings, but two-lane travel will resume beyond the buildings for access to the parking area.
