The location of the upcoming bimonthly meeting of the Rhea County Historical Society will be at the historic Rhea County Courthouse. Nokian Tyres celebrates fifth anniversary of Dayton workforce

Dayton Arts League announces Strawberry Festival show winners
DAYTON — The Dayton Arts League announced that the 49th Annual Strawberry Festival Fine Art Show had the second largest number of Festival-goers in the show’s history voting for their favorite piece of artwork. A total of 427 people of all ages voted during the three-day show which was only 32 less voters than last year. TN Promise FAFSA deadline extended to May 31
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) announced today the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline for the Tennessee Promise scholarship program will be extended to Friday, May 31. The new deadline provides high school seniors and their families additional time to complete their FAFSA and remain eligible for the state’s tuition-free higher education program. KNOXVILLE — The Tennessee Valley Authority has issued a Request for Proposal for energy and capacity to help meet the region’s growing demand for electricity while maximizing grid reliability. Groups to offer trauma and addiction training
DAYTON — Several groups are coming together to offer “Trauma and the Addicted Mind Training” on Thursday, May 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Rhea County Welcome Center. The Rhea County Welcome Center is located at 107 Main Street, Dayton, TN, 37321. Training will consist of learning why do people use, abuse and become addicted, how substance use impacts decision-making and self-control and what does the mind need to recover from substance use. The session will also include addressing how trauma impact brain function, how survival mode affects daily choices and an overview for creating new neuropathways and making healthy choices. The event is a joint effort among the Hamilton County Coalition, Rhea County Coalition, Blazing Hop Ranch and the state’s department of mental health and substance abuse services.

Dayton Garden Club participates in herb program
Members from the Dayton Garden Club recently attended the state ways and means herb program in Chattanooga on May 2 at the Christ United Methodist Church.
