RC3 continues improvements
The Rhea County Community Center, or RC3, installed four new basketball goals over the week. The four new goals are located on the side of the main basketball court and are retractable. The installation is part of ongoing efforts to make several improvements to the facility, including the installation of new playground equipment earlier this year.
S.C. chamber named member of the month
Spring City Chamber of Commerce recently announced the member of the month for April is Rhea Medical Center. Rhea Medical Center is a premier medical provider for our area. The hospital is located at 9400 Rhea County Highway in Dayton and offers emergency care, surgical procedures and many other medical necessities. RMC also has physician offices located in Spring City and Dayton to help with everyday care that boasts six different providers to choose from. Their goal is to provide the best care possible for all of Rhea County’s citizens. County commission OKs $15K for heritage foundation
RHEA COUNTY — The Rhea County Commission approved the allocation of $15,000 from the county’s hotel/motel tax revenue to the Rhea Heritage and Preservation Foundation at the county commission’s monthly meeting on Tuesday. According to county officials, $10,000 of that $15,000 will go toward costs associated with the 2024 Scopes Trial Festival. The remaining $5,000 is earmarked for administrative costs. Bryan College raises nearly $280K for scholarship program
CHATTANOOGA — On April 11, Bryan College hosted its annual Bryan Opportunity Scholarship Program Dinner in the Portman Ballroom of the Westin Chattanooga. Downtown intersections to be converted to four-way stops

The clouds dissipated enough to view the solar eclipse in areas of Rhea County. Rhea County experienced between 85 and 88 percent totality. During the previous solar eclipse in 2017, Rhea County experienced 100 percent totality.
TVA names Bert Robinson East Regional Executive

RHEA COUNTY — The Herald-News’ free annual publication “Rhea Revealed” will soon be available at select locations throughout the county. The 40-page magazine highlights a variety of topics pertaining to Rhea County such as history, festivals, recreation and more. “This is an ideal publication for visitors or newcomers to the area,” The Herald-News Managing Editor Reed Johnson said. “It also valuable for those that live here as well.
