    Things To Do: Hop aboard for trolley karaoke in Fall River; and Central American food fest

    In Things To Do, we take a look at, well, things to do, happening every week in the Greater Fall River area and around the SouthCoast. From weekdays to weekends, there’s always plenty going on.

    And we’re not only taking a look at what’s happening this week, we’re also giving you a heads up for events that are coming soon.

    This week, we’ve got karaoke aboard Fall River's trolley. Plus, concerts, a chance to meet a sculptor or to join a chorus, and a celebration of Central American and other cuisines common to Spanish-speaking countries.

    So when someone asks you what you want to do, you’ve got your plans ready to go.

    Trolleyoke Tuesday at Gates of the City: Karaoke on board Fall River’s trolley

    How about a night of karaoke onboard the Fall River trolley?

    Trolleyoke Tuesday will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., boarding at the Gates of the City.

    Join Viva Fall River for a night that includes some refreshments and singing.

    For $20, attendees will be provided with a ticket for on-board karaoke, and light bites at Dunny’s BBQ and Primo on Water Street. Drinks are not included, and must be purchased. Check-in and boarding is at the Gates of the City, and then the trolley will set off.

    This event is for ages 18 and older.

    Viva Fall River will email attendees before the event for song selections, in order to prepare.

    Upcoming concerts at Narrows Center for the Arts

    There are a couple of upcoming concerts at the Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St., Fall River.

    Blues singer songwriter Sue Foley will be there on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8 to 10 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $33 in advance, and $38 on the day of the show. Find tickets online at https://tinyurl.com/yc27ef6a .

    Roots musicians the Honey Island Swamp Band will perform at the Narrows on Friday, Aug. 16, from 8 to 10 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance, and $38 on the day of the show. Find tickets online at https://tinyurl.com/mpmtp5hn .

    Aerosmith's permanent vacation: Fall River linked to the band's early days, biggest hits

    Mosaic Jazz Quartet at Greater Fall River Art Association

    The Mosaic Jazz Quartet will be performing in the gallery space at the Greater Fall River Art Association, 80 Belmont St., on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m.

    Tickets are $10; pay at the door.

    Patio de Comidas in New Bedford’s Riverside Park

    There’s still some time to enjoy Patio de Comidas, an outdoor prepared food patio in New Bedford’s Riverside Park, featuring Central American and other cuisines common to Spanish-speaking countries.

    It’s culminating later this month, with the Festival Tipico Guatemalteco, which celebrates Guatemalan culture through music, dance, art and food.

    The next events are on Saturdays, Aug. 17 and 24, with the Aug. 24 event coinciding with the Festival Tipico Guatemalteco.

    Patio de Comidas events are held at the Bullard Street and Belleville Avenue entrance, from noon to 6 p.m.

    Meet the Sculptor at Tiverton Four Corners Sculpture Park

    Meet visiting sculptor Peter Morse during the South Coast Artist Tour.

    Tiverton Four Corners Sculpture Park is holding Meet the Sculptor on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10:30 a.m.

    The park is hosting "Ars Terra," featuring outdoor installations by Morse.

    Meet the Sculptor, held on the grounds of The Sculpture House, 3850 Main Road, Tiverton, is free and open to the public during daylight hours.

    The installation will be in the sculpture grounds until Oct. 31.

    Free concerts in Rehoboth

    There are a few more free concerts coming up this season in Rehoboth.

    Free concerts are held on Sundays at Redway Plain, 401 Winthrop St.

    Upcoming concerts are: Mike Higgins & The Dynamics on Aug. 18; Jesse L. Gauthier on Aug., 25; and Neil & The Vipers on Sept. 1.

    In the event of rain, concerts will be held at the old Francis Farm, 27 Francis Farm Road.

    Concert-goers can expect to see food trucks like Shiny Griddle, KC Katering, and Palagi Bros.

    Concerts are sponsored by Propane Plus, the Rehoboth Park Commission and the Rehoboth Cultural Council.

    Open rehearsals with Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus

    The Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus invites new singers to attend open rehearsals and to learn more about the chorus.

    They’re preparing for their 2024 holiday concert season, “Holiday Treat,” featuring songs like “Silver and Gold,” “Believe,” “Somewhere in My Memory,” and “We Need a Little Christmas.” SMFC Bronze will sing numbers such as “Silver Bells,” “Christmas Toys on Parade,” and “Nutcracker Sweets.”

    Concerts will be accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra, and performances are scheduled for Dec. 14 and 15.

    Open rehearsals will be held on Monday, Aug. 19, and Monday, Aug. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m., at First Congregational (Stone) Church, 785 S. Main St., Raynham.

    A brief, informal audition will take place following each of these rehearsals.

    There are openings for all voice parts.
