    Kick off a crisp new season with fall festivals and flavors, and take a journey back to simpler, groovier times with a tasty retro event coming to one Fall River downtown restaurant.

    Fall Festival in the South End

    Looking for Saturday plans? Christopher's has you covered. The South Main Street eatery will be hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The neighborhood gathering will feature a cheese sampling, giveaways and autumn vibes. A live violinist will be performing under the canopy just outside of Christopher's, there will be a hot dog cart, treats from Christopher's, Amaral’s Bakery, and LYV Luxury desserts, and lemonade and more. Bring your family, friends, and your pups. Christopher's is located at 1816 S. Main St., Fall River.

    The fall scoop at Simcock Farm

    Fall is just around the corner, and Simcock Farm is getting in on the autumn action starting this weekend. With the cooler weather comes some cool new flavors at the Swansea ice cream stand. Stop by 293 Marvel St., visit with their farm animals and get your first taste of their Caramel Apple, Pumpkin and Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream. Also in the flavor spotlight this week is their Vanilla Raspberry Truffle - vanilla base with a raspberry swirl and chocolate raspberry filled truffles. Simcock Farm is open daily from 1 to 8:30 p.m.

    Totally retro brunch at Tequila Lime

    In need of a Sunday Funday filled with 70s and 80s nostalgia and yummy eats? Then, Great Scott, does Fall River have a place for you. Tequila Lime Cantina is serving up a blast from the past with its Bingo, Beats and Brunch event on Sept 22, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Groove through the decades with "retro tunes, rad prizes, and a far-out brunch menu" featuring pop culture-themed fare such as Breakfast Club Eggs Benedict, Neon Nachos, Miami Vice Frittata, Flashdance French Toast, Back to the Future Reuben, and a Groovy Breakfast Burrito.     Get a taste of Touisset

    No need to be a member of Touisset Country Club to enjoy their food. The Swansea golf course restaurant is open to everyone seven days a week. Savor fresh seafood, mouthwatering burgers, and a variety of other delicious options, as well as homemade dessert specials. This week's Clubhouse Specials include lobster mac and cheese ($12.99/$15.99), baked scrod and lobster ($22.99), New England clam chowder, baked cod dinner ($15.99)  fish and chips ($13.99/$15.99). Other offerings include bacon onion jam burger ($14.49), fried cod sandwich ($15.99), and New England lobster roll ($17.99).     Dinner for Two Tuesdays

    For weeknight date night make sure to head over to The Galley Grille at White's of Westport, 66 State Road, Westport. Tuesdays are for their dinner for two special with soup, chowder, or salad to start; choose two entrees from baked scrod, vodka tortellini, chicken Mozambique, oven-roasted chicken, or bourbon sirloin tips; and finish with a dessert for $50 per couple.
